Main Street Stage is happy to announce the return of The Red Room, Saturday, June 14th.  Doors open at 8 for life drawing (model and art materials supplied), mingling and light refreshment.  At 9, follow the host into the theatre for a one hour variety show—a different show every week that features local musicians, writers, dancers, magicians and more.  The Red Room will run Saturdays in June and Mondays in July and August.  The Red Room is a deal; $10.00 a person gets you refreshments, drawing and a show.  The Red Room contains adult themes and language. Talking With... by Jane Martin will be performed at Main Street Stage on May 23rd, 24th, 30th, and 31st at 8pm.

Produced by Melissa Quirk, this cast features many of the talented members from the Town Players’ production held at BCC in March.

Talking With... is a series of stories about individuals:  an actress just moments before the curtain rises, a housewife fantasizing about life in Oz, a disillusioned rodeo rider, a daughter mourning the loss of her mother, a snake handler, a champion baton twirler, and a woman who finds redemption through body art.  Each story is richly entertaining and cleverly written.  One finds humanity, humor and depth in each piece.

As a collection, Talking With... is the story of Everywoman.  It includes tales of faith, disillusionment, dreams and redemption.  There truly is a little something for everyone.

Our friends with The MCLA Reduced Shakespeare Company will be presenting The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) at Main Street Stage on Saturday May 3 at 8 p.m. and Sunday May 4 at 5 p.m. This wild romp features three actors performing 37 plays and 154 sonnets of the bard in under two hours. Tickets are $5 at the door. This production is produced by Yorick (The MCLA Student Shakespeare Club) and features Matthew Tibbs, Tim, McEvoy and Doran Hamm. Due to strong language, this show is not recommended for children.

Main Street Stage presents Living With It, written and performed by Frank La Frazia. Living With It is an auto-biographical account of life as a teenager with a parent suffering from bipolar disorder. It portrays a young man who is coming of age, seeking independence and being dealt the responsibility of caring for a sick parent. It is rooted in a factual story from a teen’s perspective. In the tradition of Spalding Grey, John Leguizamo, and Eric Bogosian, this poignant and humorous piece features Mr. La Frazia portraying several characters and narration throughout. Living With It plays at Main Street Stage on March 14, 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5.

Beginning Saturday, February 16, Main Street Stage presents The Red Room, an evening of cabaret-style variety entertainment. Doors will open at 8 p.m. for an hour of life drawing and light refreshments.  The show features music, dance, poetry, short drama and more to begin at 9 p.m.  Tickets are $10 at the door.  The Red Room will run Saturday evenings through March 8 with a new show every week.

The Royal Berkshire Improv Troupe (RBIT) announces their "Winter Blast" performances at Main Street Stage, 57 Main Street, North Adams, beginning Friday January 18th at 8 p.m. and continuing on Fridays until February 22nd. The troupe performs improvised scenes and games with suggestions from the audience. Tickets are $5. A fun time is guaranteed for all!

The Mystery Of Irma Vep by Charles Ludlam of the Ridiculous Theatre Company will continue its run November 1 through 10. It plays Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Thursday, November 1 is Community Night: pay what you can at 8 p.m. The show features sisters Justina Trova and Alexia Trainor and is directed by Wendy Walraven.

Friday October 26th and Saturday October 27th The Mystery of Irma Vep by Charles Ludlam will begin its three week run at Main Street Stage. The play is directed by Wendy Walraven. The cast features sisters Alexia Trainor and Justina Trova. Friday and Saturday's festivities begin at 6 p.m with wine and hors d’oeuvres, catered by Robin Anish of A Spendid Table, and the performance will begin at 7 p.m. After the performance dessert and coffee will be served and door prizes donated from North Adams Cinema, Mill City Productions, Drury Drama Team and Where’d You Get That? will be given away. Tickets are $35 per person or $50 per couple. Tickets are available in advance at Papyri Book Store on Eagle Street in North Adams and Where’d You Get That? on Spring Street in Williamstown in addition to the Main Street Stage box office at 413-663-3240.

On Sunday October 28th Main Street Stage will be partnering with Inkberry, Drury High School, Conte Middle School and The North Adams Public Library for Writer's (Cell) Block, a scary story contest for middle and high school age students. All winners (there will be four from each age group) will have their work read by a professional actor. The three runners up in each category will be featured in a reading at the North Adams Public Library, 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct 13th. The library readings will be free and open to the public. Grand prize winners will have their stories read at the Main Street Stage, Sunday, Oct. 28 at 7 P.M. Tickets are $5.00.

All proceeds from these events will go toward Main Street Stage’s 2008 season.
